Acne & Self Esteem

Physically speaking, acne can be quite scarring for a short period of time. Of course, if you pick at them, those same zits and the scars that ensue tend to last a lot longer to say the least.  However, frankly, even if it’s just a minor case of acne, acne can be quite psychologically scarring.  It can be unsightly to say the least, and when we find treatments that work, sometimes they cause redness, irritation, bumps, and otherwise things that would commonly be associated with acne.  So how do you really know the difference?  This can become extremely frustrating to say the least, and it has led many to avoid using many acne treatments in general and go the “natural” route of not using anything, which realistically only makes acne worse.  But all in all, even if the skin is just red with small bumps, it can be quite embarrassing, and it has been blamed for many cases of bad self esteem in teenagers among others.  Either way, if somebody you know has this problem, it’s not something to be brushed off or taken lightly by any means.  It can be quite a serious thing and it can cause numerous problems in general.
