Physically speaking, acne can be quite scarring for a short period of time. Of course, if you pick at them, those same zits and the scars that ensue tend to last a lot longer to say the least. However, frankly, even if it’s just a minor case of acne, acne can be quite psychologically scarring. It can be unsightly to say the least, and when we find treatments that work, sometimes they cause redness, irritation, bumps, and otherwise things that would commonly be associated with acne. So how do you really know the difference? This can become extremely frustrating to say the least, and it has led many to avoid using many acne treatments in general and go the “natural” route of not using anything, which realistically only makes acne worse. But all in all, even if the skin is just red with small bumps, it can be quite embarrassing, and it has been blamed for many cases of bad self esteem in teenagers among others. Either way, if somebody you know has this problem, it’s not something to be brushed off or taken lightly by any means. It can be quite a serious thing and it can cause numerous problems in general.

Acne & Self Esteem
Friday, August 28th, 2009Cedarwood Essential Oil
Thursday, August 27th, 2009Cedarwood essential oil has been known for its various benefits to the skin, even though it is not yet one of the most popular of ingredients. It remains one of the most effective in certain ways. It has a soft, spicy aroma that generates a feeling of warmth when used for its scent and aroma. But it is also rich in alpha and beta cedrenes, and it has been proven to have sedative effects in clinical trials conducted in Japan. Likewise, it has been used for its astringent and antiseptic properties. It tightens skin tissue to relax the skin in some ways and firm it up in others. It has also been used to treat acne, oily skin, eczema, wrinkles in certain ways(mostly preventative), and it has been used to treat blemished skin in general. it is also an abtisborrhoeic, which works on the endocrine system to normalize sweat gland production, which can be related to acne, because many would say that sweat largely contributes to acne in so many ways. There are many applications for cedarwood oil just as there are many applications for essential oils in general. You should realize its limitations and it certainly shouldn’t be on its own. But there are plenty of good combinations to be used with cedarwood oil to get rid of your acne, improve the tone and texture of your skin, and otherwise help you to get the results you want.
Chamomile
Tuesday, August 25th, 2009Chamomile is one of the most powerful ingredients that is all natural and will not cause side effects. It has often been used to promote relaxation in tea forms. However, there are two types known as German and Roman chamomile. However, in terms of its skin benefits, it has also been used as an antibacterial to essentially kill off many bacterias that cause acne. In addition, it can reduce inflammation and a muscle relaxant. Frankly, this will reduce the stress that causes excess acne as well as some wrinkles in general terms. In general, it produces a relaxing effect. But in other ways, it helps you to get rid of acne, get rid of bacteria, and otherwise reduce the zits. If you spread it across your skin in general, you will also get the soothed, soft, and relaxed effect. Many have found that it has various benefits to the skin at large, and you no longer have to use something that might irritate. Instead, chamomile in general can actually reduce past damage. So in short, it’s definitely something worth considering. It will help you to get the benefits you need and the skin you want without having to use irritants or otherwise sacrifice one benefit to your skin for another.
Holding Back
Monday, August 24th, 2009I was talking to a friend the other day, and honestly, you never realize the things people think until they say it, and usually it’s not until you’ve gotten past it. For example, in this case, he was imitating a guy that we both know, that we all knew in fact, and the minute he started talking, everybody knew exactly who it was supposed to be. The voice wasn’t right on, but so many people have distinctive innotations that they use, and this is one of them. Granted, we’ve joked about him before, just the things he used to say and otherwise. But to his face, nobody says anything unless he’s already stopped doing it. Likewise, I’m pretty sure people do that with acne. They certainly do it with weight loss. I mean most people have the good sense to say oh you lost weight. But there are some who will say something like you’re not fat anymore. I’ve actually seen someone say something to the extent of you don’t have bad acne anymore. In their case, that was actually a genuine compliment. It just didn’t come out quite right. But to some degree, you have to wonder what people hold back.
Mislead Intentions
Saturday, August 22nd, 2009One thing I’ve also learned is that you don’t do things in the mistaken thought that you are going to help someone out. I mean there have been people I’ve known who could have used some sanitary help and frankly some people who have been in need of a good acne treatment. If they ask me, I will tell them what has worked for me, and I tell them flat out that I have had my bouts with serious acne. But I never say anything about how bad their acne may be or otherwise. It’s always something about ya my acne was much worse than that and frankly it worked for me, so I don’t know why it wouldn’t work for really a case like yours. I mean if something works for severe face covering acne, then obviously it works its way down the ladder in so many ways. But at the same point in time, I’ve never done the whole trying to help sneakily by giving them unsolicited advice, unsolicited advice is never a good thing. If they want it, they will ask you for it. I’ve never done it and learned about it, because quite frankly I’ve seen other people make the mistake, and even if it’s taken well in person, there is always the stuff behind closed doors. So frankly don’t do it.
Even I Don’t Touch Acne
Friday, August 21st, 2009I don’t know how many times I’ve been told that I am blunt to a fault, honest to a fault. I’ve been compared to a 5 year old in that aspect, and quite frankly I make no apologies for it, but I like to think that I have a little more tact than a 5 year old. Everybody around me knows that I have no qualms about telling you something that’s bothering me or telling you when you look beautiful. If you complain at me about being fat, big mistake. I will tell you if you’re fat, whereas otherwise I would actually have the tact to hold back and not say anything. Now if you’re not fat, I will just roll my eyes and tell you to shut up because I really don’t want to hear it. But it’s something that sometimes people appreciate and sometimes they get all butt hurt about it. But one of the areas I have never touched, even if people complain about it is acne. This is something to learn about tact, and the people that really know me better appreciate this particular value that I have in most of the time not taking things too far. I just don’t say anything at all, and frankly there are times when I will lie and say it’s not all that bad when it is. That is my only area where I do this. And then there’s times when you tell someone it’s going to work out when you know it’s not. But that’s a different story. I am as honest about things as they come. But frankly, acne is one area that you shouldn’t really touch if you don’t have to.
Kids Can Take You Down
Thursday, August 20th, 2009I swear, the best person to dismantle your self image and take you down a notch is a little kid, and the part that kills me is that they don’t actually even mean to do it. I mean that. They don’t actually mean to do it in any degree, they’re just amazingly good at it. One day you’re walking around, and then the next you realize something wrong with yourself that you never thought about before, because kids will just say the truth, whether it happens to be good or bad. I mean as far as certain things in preferences, they learn it from their parents. For example, I’ve heard some pretty nasty words come out of a 3 year old kid’s mouth, but I also knew exactly where those words came from. But as far as acne, that’s the most common one. I mean kids like to grab things, and yes when they rip out your earrings it hurts. But when they’re grabbing at your face wondering what those big red things are and basically telling you about how you know, they’re all over your face, do you have chicken pox, not flattering. So honestly, the best thing to do is to try not to take it personally, but also remember that they’re just kids, so they don’t know any better.
Does Meat Cause Acne?
Wednesday, August 19th, 2009I gotta say, a vegetarian diet has been fabulous for my skin. It’s been great for the rest of the body. But honestly, I ate plenty of vegetables and fruits before, and my weakness has always been more carbs than meat. So you would think my weakness would cause my acne. But no, apparently meat has more to do with it and eliminating meat in general actually. I mean I’ve still kept fish around, I know that’s not necessarily so vegetarian. But really the good fats are necessary and they’re really good for the skin. But apparently eliminating those red meats and even chicken and stuff has helped out tons, and I feel great not to mention the whole skin benefits in general. I can’t say that I actually mind this at all, it’s not bad to know what I can do about it now. Before, a constant struggle. Now, not so bad at all. So I’m going with this to see how it goes and I’m then going to go from wherever I end up. So I’m hoping this continues to progress as it has been so far, and especially as I learn better habits in general. I honestly don’t know how people end up worse off when going veg. It’s not that hard.
Hormones
Monday, August 3rd, 2009| Hormones can cause acne when you’re in your teenage years of course, and it’s never fun to have those raging hormones. But when you’re an adult, it seems to be worse, especially in women who tend to have more hormonal outbreaks between periods, menopause, and pregnancy among others. Frankly, though testosterone causes more acne obviously, those fluctuating levels of estrogen can also cause acne. During your monthly cycle for example, levels of estrogen are actually actively doubled. Now obviously birth control can help to control those hormones and therefore help to treat acne. But I’ve seen a few women who can’t take birth control pills for a number of highly valid reasons. So when you know that time is coming, just step up your normal skincare routine. Reduce your stress if you can, and just make sure that you are paying extra attention in general to your skin. All of this will help you to achieve greater results in general and keep the dermatologist away. If you have an extra strong acne medication, it can be applied only during those times for that extra kick you need, and there are also hormone suppressors that doctors can give you. But of course, if you don’t have to, I wouldn’t necessarily suggest it. |
